I’ve attended many social events over the past couple of months, and the recurring question from friends and neighbors is, “So how is the real estate market doing in the Central West End?”
My answer is quite simple: “Very well, thank you!” The year 2014 marked a genuine end to the real estate doldrums of 2008 through 2013. In fact, Amy and I had our very best year of closed sales in the past ten years.
Amy and I had 34 closed sales for the year, 30 of which were in the Central West End. Our other 4 sales were in Clayton, Compton Heights and University City. The sales prices ranged from $130,000 up to $1,250,000. Our total sales volume came to $20,225,400, with an average sale price of $594,000.
We concluded the year 2014 as the #1 and #2-ranked Realtors in the Central West End, per the final year-end rankings in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).

Amy and I particularly enjoy selling CWE properties which are in excellent overall condition. The average sale price per square foot for Amy’s and my sales in the Central West End was $187 per square foot in 2014, whereas the overall average for all 392 sales in the CWE was only $144 per square foot (per statistics from MARIS, the Multiple Listing Service).
